Using IFTTT, you link conditional statements called “applets,” which are triggered by changes that occur in other webservices, such as gmail, Facebook, and smart home devices. In addition, IFTTT manages multiple devices with a single command. 

Here are some examples of IFTTT applets that work with smart thermostats:

• “If I leave for work, then set the temperature to 78 degrees.”
• “If the temperature outside drops to 50 degrees, then turn on the heat.”
• “If someone changes the temperature, then tell me.”

(That last one is particularly helpful if you have teenagers!)
