Changing my review because I am honestly shocked about how much they charge for small jobs. I had them come to do a few simple jobs: install a new kitchen drain and a new toilet fill valve. I provided all the parts. So, they were supposed to come between 12 and 4. Showed up at 3:45, so I stared at that toilet valve kit all day. The package promised easy installation, and I was tempted to try myself, but they were already coming, so I thought I might as well let them do it. When I got the estimate for both of these jobs, it was much more than I’d been expecting, so I just decided to install the pump myself. I watched one video and installed it in under 5 minutes. They were going to charge close to $200 for this. $200 for a 5 minute job that a total amateur did herself after watching a single short on YouTube. Unreal.

My furnace went sometime late Friday night and they were at my house Saturday morning at 9am discovered problem immediately got it working again but part needed replaced ( the sound it made was indication enough) - older furnace- cheaper to just buy a new one and they bought new heaters at Home Depot incase the part gave out before installation of new furnace which was to be Tuesday but got a text Sunday that they would be here at 8am on Monday. Everyone was super nice and understanding add customer service was AWESOME! Installation was quick and they did a beautiful job!

Took my months to resolve an incorrect bill, leaving multiple messages with their support team that was never responded to, finally they threatened collections unless I paid an incorrect bill. I finally get a hold of them and pay the bill and then they send the bill to collections. They were once a good company, I would avoid at all costs if possible.

Had a clog in my sewer drain. "Stuff" was backing up and coming out onto the floor. I'm a general contractor by trade, so I have a lot experience with dealing with plumbers. It was very easy setting up a visit for them send a guy out. He showed up within 45 minutes, and cleared the clog in about an hour. He was very professional and problem solved my issue quickly. I would hire them again.

No comments included at the relevant points of discussion. Since I didn't take exhastive notes, I am missing some information. The cost of the service was not disclosed until after the service was provided. Overall they were good and competant, but have room for improvement from the customer service side of things.

McVAY = VERY IMPRESSIVE! The buyer's sewer line inspection revealed 2 breaks. These required repair. Through the estimating process the fact that this was a CSL, a sewer line shared between 2 or more neighbors, came to light, not uncommon for Pittsburgh. Further revealed, there was no housetrap. In spite of these and other complexities, the estimate was presented with full confidence in the repair which offered minimal digging, installation of a whole house trap, new PVC fittings, and 35 ft of 6” diameter cured-in-place liner. Shout out to Adam! Well done on the estimate of work! All of the technicians I met on the job were personable, helpful, hard working and …impressive. The McVay team managed the inspection process with Allegheny Health Department Plumbing Inspections seamlessly. All the work was done in a timely manner as various crews were brought in for each stage of the process. The site supervisor was not satisfied with the quality of the finish work, the height of the fixtures protruded above the poured concrete sidewalk by an unacceptable margin. Chris wouldn't sign off on the job until that was made right. It was made right. Way to go Chris! That’s the kind of contractor team I want to work with. A team that makes sure the work is done right before walking off the job.

There was one little hiccup at the end in my opinion. Even as of 1 hour before the sale closing, I had not heard from anyone who could verify for me how the final inspection video clearly demonstrated that the repairs of the two breaks in the line were actually accomplished. It was as though the McVay team thought this was intuitive or that I should simply trust them because they said it was so. The AGHD inspection simply proved that it met county requirements for what was installed; it didn’t guarantee that actual repairs were made. (It’s a very odd process actually, IMO.) Finally…Jake got on the phone with me and walked me through the repair inspection video so that I could have full confidence that I was offering the buyer of my property a verifiably fully repaired sewer line. Way to go Jake!

So that’s my one suggestion for the McVay team. Please consider having a “closer” on hand at the end of the process, someone who is familiar with the project and can explain exactly how the work done met the needs of the project. Perhaps it should even be Adam, the estimator?

For the potential client in need of sewer line repair, working from sewer line scope videos with their unreliable foot counters is very challenging. It is not easy to figure out what’s going on underground from these. I found McVay easy to work with and amenable to being held accountable for their work and to my satisfaction. Adam was a great guy. Called and helped us troubleshoot the problem over the phone and it turned out to be such an easy fix. His years of experience were key. He knew exactly what to tell us to do and even came out to make sure we were good to go even though we were able to fix it over the phone. Then was kind enough to not charge for his time. Would love to pay it forward by hoping someone sees this and gives this company a call for work. Honest, good people.

Bottom line is when you get up in the morning and you notice sewage creeping up into things you shouldnt have on the floor, you freak out. Then you call the only company you have ever dealt with hoping they can help today. I called McVay and the first person said he would put me on the list. Ten minutes later a young lady called and said the have someone that can be there shortly. I was feeling pretty good about that. Then almost immediately the plumber called and gave me a specific time that he would be here and he was. A short time later after he determined the problem was in my main line he jetted and snaked and everything let go and was back to normal. So within a two hour period my freaking out was reduced to appreciation for the company, the office people and the technician. I recommend them for this kind of work and for everything they do. I think they have a good company with good people and they are probably good at all of it.

Excellent communication every step in the process. Approximate 200 foot sewer line needed work to pass a dye test for our Township. McVay worked with our Sewer Line Insurance company to ensure that Insurance paid their part and we paid only what the policy stated was our part of the work. McVay did a wonderful job, including backfilling the work done in our yard to complete the job. From the various specialized workers and teams, to the office staff and supervisor, all treated us with respect and explained every step along the way.
McVey should be everyone's go to company for all their sewer, plumbing, heating and cooling needs. Give them a call in the future, you will not be disappointed. We plan on using McVay for all our needs that their company offers, no need to call anyone else!

Randy from McVay came out to investigate and open our main sewer line which was backing up into our basement. We previously had another company come out 2 weeks prior to do the same. At that time they snaked the drain and removed some roots. But the problem persisted and we we're still getting sewage backup.

Randy arrived on time and prepared. He couldn't of been more professional or knowledgeable. You could instantly tell he knew what he was doing and talking about. We were originally slated to have the line snaked again with a camera inspection this time to find the root of the issue. After explaining our situation Randy suggested hydrojetting the line instead. He explained that while it was more expensive it was also more reliable with getting rid of roots in the pipe than snaking it. I took his advice and chose this service instead.
Randy took the time to show and explain everything in full detail while he was working. Pointing out the problem areas in our pipe as he discovered them. Ultimately he discovered 2 areas of the pipe with root growth. As he said the hydrojetting completely pulverized the roots. Through further camera inspection it was clear that now that the line was free of roots completely.

He explained that the roots would come back without a doubt. It was just a matter of time. He laid out all of our future options and potential costs. Took the time to provide and explain a quote.
Randy really made me feel as if he was there to help and inform me. Not just check a box on his call sheet. By far the best experience I've ever had with a plumber. He did a phenomenal job from start to finish. Highly recommend!

From what I could find online the repair cost about as average as it could be. Our inducer motor had broken, (after 17 years,) and the new one had to be the name brand for the brand "American Standard," which is what contributed to our job costing slightly on the higher side of the average cost. Stuff like that can't be avoided sometimes, unfortunately.

I had a drop water system installed and I am happy with my purchase. My sales rep and installation team 5/5+. The unit itself was just a bit slow off the line 4/5. I had a weird odor when we first ran it, I had to run the regen cycle 4 times and now we have odorless soft water that feels amazing.

The price for the unit and features that I picked was close to $1,000 less than competitive bids - I had 3 other companies come out. The sales rep was friendly and informative without being pushy - one competitor used health "scare tactics".

The install team also fixed a small thing unrelated to the install that we had discovered during the bid process that I had intended to replace myself, but hadn't got around to yet. I will definitely use McVay again.

We chose McVay over several other HVAC companies to install our new Bryant furnace/ heat pump system a month ago because of their association with Lowes and because of their excellent online ratings. Everything went like clockwork, installation was mostly done in 1 day. Unit seems to be working well, much quieter than its 25 year old predecessor. Communication with the company ( email text and voice) has been excellent although their AI answering service is a little too realistic. When the current free one year maintenance plan included with the purchase expires we plan to enroll in the McVay prepaid home maintenance program (HVAC, plumbing and electrical) on a yearly basis. I have never had a problem with their courtesy and professionalism. I only thought the parts were overpriced, but I wanted OEM parts and that’s just Trane. I would recommend McVay to anyone. In late December 2022, I had McVay replace my furnace in my basement because the secondary heat exchanger had completely corroded, which required running a new piece of flexi line for natural gas. All was well and good. Or so I thought.

Fast-forward to a week ago... I was doing laundry in the basement when I thought I could faintly smell natural gas somewhere in my basement. So I went over to the furnace that they had installed 3 years earlier... sure enough, the smell got stronger, so I did a quick dish soap test against the fitting they had replaced... it was leaking.

So I called McVay out to see if I could get it replaced.... they charged me full price for a diagnostic fee, and they said because the furnace was out of warranty, they would not replace the gas line for free.

I'm giving this review 3 stars because while the service tech was very helpful and courteous, I feel pretty cheated knowing that the repair that *they had done themselves*, they would not rectify and instead charged me extra to fix it. Gas leaks are no joke, so if this was any other sort of problem, I might be more lenient, but after this, I'm not so sure I have the same level of trust in McVay I did previously.
